DATAMARK Conducts NG9-1-1 Public Safety Workshops in Arizona

Seven workshops to be held statewide for 9-1-1 center and PSAP personnel, public safety GIS managers and addressing authorities

PHOENIX, May 7, 2019 – DATAMARK today announced a series of seven workshops in Arizona: “Don’t Run with Scissors: You are Responsible for NG9-1-1.” The workshops will take an in-depth look at the objectives and requirements of GIS in Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) for tomorrow. Discussion will go into detail about where public safety stakeholders need to start and the importance and impact of GIS on NG9-1-1.

Attendees will include 9-1-1 center and Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) personnel; regional and state 9-1-1 coordinators; MSAG coordinators; GIS managers; GIS data stewards; addressing authorities; and any other individuals who may benefit from a discussion regarding 9-1-1, GIS, and their roles in next gen 9-1-1. This set of workshops in Arizona is the first of several series that will be held across the U.S.

Sandy Dyre, former Project Manager for the State of Arizona 9-1-1 Program Office and now a DATAMARK Senior Public Safety Subject-Matter Expert, comments: “We created the workshops for a higher level of in-person engagement with those who can benefit from DATAMARK’s expertise and advice on the NG9-1-1 transition. It’s an educational program designed to provide knowledge and understanding of this monumental shift in public safety and is targeted toward all those in state, county and local PSAP and public safety GIS roles.”

Topics at the workshops will include but not be limited to:

  • The role of public safety in NG9-1-1
  • The role of GIS in NG9-1-1
  • The full explanation on next generation 9-1-1
  • The ways in which 9-1-1 location information, validation and routing are determined through MSAG, ALI, LDB, LVF, ECRF and other methods – and explanations of each listed acronym and its impact on the transition
  • The timeline for the transition to NG9-1-1
