DATAMARK’s Keri Brennan Now President-Elect of URISA for GIS Professionals
In October 2018, DATAMARK Product Manager Keri Brennan, GISP, began a three-year term as president-elect of the Board of Directors of URISA, the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association. URISA is an international, nonprofit association that provides education, training, community, advocacy for geospatial challenges and issues, and resources for geographic information systems (GIS) professionals.
Brennan began her term as president-elect at the conclusion of GIS-Pro and CalGIS 2018 in Palm Springs in October. Her term as president of URISA’s Board of Directors will begin at the conclusion of GIS-Pro 2019 in October 2019. Brennan has been an active member of URISA since 2005 and attributes much of her professional success to her participation in URISA programs.
“GIS expertise is at a crossroads, with a growing need for well-educated and specialized professionals, who are able to serve the needs of many varied constituents,” said Brennan. “URISA, too, is moving in a new direction with an organizational structure that will lead the association for GIS professionals into the 2020s and beyond. I look forward to serving as president and helping to guide the profession as we evolve together.”
Like many of her colleagues at DATAMARK, Brennan has extensive experience in and a deep understanding of GIS. This knowledge and insight enable Brennan and her team to remain the go-to authorities on GIS data solutions and services for public safety. DATAMARK’s data-forward, purpose-built NG9-1-1 solutions provide the highest levels of public safety GIS data completeness and accuracy. This ensures easy and consistently dependable access to mission-critical information in life-critical situations and simplifies the transition to NG9-1-1 for addressing authorities, as well as GIS and PSAP stakeholders.
Brennan’s tenure at DATAMARK began in 2017 as part of the public safety GIS team at Michael Baker International. Prior to DATAMARK, she spent 17 years at The Schneider Corporation, the largest surveying, engineering and GIS firm in the Midwest that specializes in cadastral mapping for state, county and local governments, as well as private industry. While at Schneider, she served as a senior GIS consultant and GIS education manager. At the start of her career, Brennan held GIS specialist positions at Cree-Tech, Inco Ltd. and Laurentian University. She has a BA in geography from Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada.
